An Apple Pie a Day…
One of my favorite raw desserts is apple pie. A baked apple pie is just okay to me, but I LOVE this recipe. In addition to being delicious, it is simple and healthy. Remember this recipe for the upcoming holidays.
With such a small ingredient list, it is important to use the best. Buy organic apples, and keep the skin on for extra nutrients. The best dates to use are fat, juicy Medjool, but any kind of date will work. Save your table salt for science experiments. Only put sea salt in your food!
All-American Apple Pie
from Ani’s Raw Food Kitchen
crust
2 cups almonds
1 tsp. sea salt
2 cups pitted dates
syrup
½ cup pitted dates
1 orange, peeled and seeded
tiny amount of water for blending
filling
5 cups apples (5 or 6 apples), seeded, thinly sliced
1 cup raisins
2 T ground cinnamon
To make curst, pulse almonds and salt in food processor until nuts are in small pieces. Slowly add dates into processor. The dates will bind the almonds to form a dough. Press dough into the bottom of pie pan. Set aside.
To make syrup, place orange into your blender first. Then add dates and blend. If needed, add water to help blending. Set aside.
To make filling, place sliced apples in a large bowl with raisins. Toss with cinnamon and syrup. Spoon into pie crust. You’ve got raw apple pie!

I love this pie!
My friend, Glenna, loved this pie and so did her boyfriend! He wants her to make one for his birthday.
